  • Development of Expertise: What are the common psychological characteristics of the ‘expert’? Is there a predictable life-cycle to the development of expertise across all domains, or are expertise time-frames domain specific? Is the transition from novice to expert a qualitative or quantitative one?
  • Testing of Expertise: Is it possible to create standards for testing of expertise across multiple domains? Are there certain performance parameters that are expected of experts across multiple domains, such as response time or correlating symbol sets?
  • Expertise in Teaching: What makes an expert teacher? What impact does the expertise of teaching actually have on the education process? In other words, if, for example, intelligent children are going to perform well anyway in an academic setting, how is it possible to assess the particular difference the teacher makes? What factors besides analytical intelligence play a role in expertise in teaching? How can tests of emotional and or leadership intelligence be developed to help schools hire expert teachers?
